In 1930s Germany, there was many conflicts between parents and children. (These conflicts really happened only if the parent disliked Hitler and child liked Hitler.) Parents couldn't really be role models to their children; if Hitler wanted the children to do certain things, then the parents had to teach them to do those certain things. If the parent disliked Hitler, they couldn't tell their child why they should dislike Hitler, because their own children could tell on them for disrespecting Hitler. Conflicts between parents and children were a big issue in 1930s Germany.
